A company in the manufacturing sector in Jamaica is seeking to recruit an experienced Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Manager to lead, implement, and continuously improve the organization’s HSSE management systems and culture.
This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all health, safety, security, and environmental standards, legislation, and internal policies while promoting a strong safety-first culture across operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the maintenance, operation, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Security & Environment management systems
- Promote safety awareness and drive a strong HSSE culture across the organization
- Develop, implement, and monitor occupational health and safety programmes
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements
- Deliver in-house HSSE training, fire drills, safety inspections, and improvement initiatives
- Ensure all occupational safety and health policies are adhered to across operations
- Coordinate sourcing and distribution of safety gear and uniforms in accordance with agreements
- Arrange and coordinate required medical testing with approved providers
- Obtain and maintain Fire Certification in collaboration with the Jamaica Fire Brigade
- Liaise with security providers to ensure protection of company assets
- Manage internal and external audits and ensure close-out of non-conformances and corrective actions
- Prepare HSSE reports and data for senior management review
- Monitor contractor, supplier, and visitor compliance with HSSE standards
- Keep abreast of HSSE legislation, standards, and best practices
- Supervise and manage the performance of staff under direct responsibility
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or Occupational Health and Safety
- Minimum of 5–6 years’ experience in a Health, Safety, Security & Environment role, including leadership responsibility
- Proven experience developing and managing safety management systems
- Experience conducting investigations and working with contractors and suppliers
- Willingness to travel as required
