Job Summary
The Visual Arts Teacher will plan, develop, and deliver CXC Visual Arts lessons to students at the secondary level. The teacher will nurture creativity, critical thinking, and technical skills, guiding students through both practical and theoretical components of the CXC syllabus. The role also includes preparing students for School-Based Assessments (SBAs) and external examinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver lessons in Visual Arts, incorporating drawing, painting, sculpture, design, and mixed media in accordance with the CXC syllabus.
- Prepare students for CXC CSEC Visual Arts examinations and SBAs.
- Encourage creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression while promoting technical proficiency.
- Develop lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Assess student work through practical projects, portfolios, assignments, and tests.
- Provide constructive feedback and support to enhance student performance.
- Organize exhibitions, display, and school art events to showcase student work.
- Maintain an organized and safe art studio/classroom environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum planning and school-wide arts initiatives.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, parent-teacher conferences, and school events.
- Perform other duties assigned by the School Manager/Executive Director.
