Job Summary
The role involves managing daily freight, logistics, and documentation processes for all shipments to the client in Barbados, ensuring efficiency, safety, and profitability. It includes developing strategic plans and systems to drive business growth and financial sustainability, implementing sales strategies to secure new revenue streams, and maintaining operational systems to achieve company objectives. Additionally, the position requires delivering exceptional customer support in a courteous and timely manner to foster retention and encourage repeat business
Job ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Ensure compliance with all local and international regulations governing freight forwarding and logistics
- Monitor quality assurance in order to meet & maintain international standards to avoid fines, penalties &/or losses on all shipments
- Oversee & monitor the movement of cargo, invoices & related charges when & as needed
- Lead business development efforts by identifying new markets, engaging with potential clients, and closing deals to drive revenue growth.
- Drive revenue growth through effective sales strategies, partnerships, and customer acquisition.
- Identify and capitalize on growth opportunities within the market.
- Oversee the management of customer inquiries, complaints, and service requests, providing timely and effective solutions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and vendors.
- Implement feedback mechanisms to continuously improve customer satisfaction and service delivery.
- Ensure accurate and timely communication of shipment status, delays, and other critical updates to clients.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure adherence to best practices in freight forwarding.
- Manage inventory, customs documentation, and shipping schedules to minimize delays and costs.
- Create monthly reports for the Executive Management Team in Trinidad.
- Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing Operations Team, ensuring they have the skills and tools to excel.
- Set performance goals and provide regular feedback and coaching to team members.
- Foster a collaborative and motivating work environment that encourages innovation and accountability.
- Manage team schedules, workload distribution, and resource allocation to meet operational demands.
- Monitor the performance of direct reports & conduct formal performance appraisals as required
- Responsible for discussing & resolving disciplinary matters that may arise
- Perform such other duties as may be required to maximize the efficiency, productivity, teamwork, customer relations & enhance the entire operations of the company
Job Requirements
- At least 5+ years experience at a Managerial level
- At least 5 years experience in the cargo industry
- University level qualifications would be an asset
- Certificate of Good character
