JOB SUMMARY
The Engineering Manager leads a team of professionals in providing Engineering support to the Operations, Projects, Upstream, Asset Maintenance, Subsea and Estimating Departments as well as to clients. The role is responsible for ensuring the quality, timeliness, and value add to the client for design data such as drawings, design calculations, models, engineered lift plans, estimates and estimating support in accordance with codes and practices reviews.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
Strategy, Business Development and Proposals
- Contributes as required to the development of the Corporate Strategic Plan for approval by the Board of Directors.
- Works with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to develop strategic and operational plans for the Engineering Department in alignment with the Company’s strategic and operational plans.
Engineering Solutions and Services
- Directs the engineering design function ensuring compliance with relevant design codes, company standards and guidelines.
- Reviews the execution of and approve Technical drawings.
- Provides technical assistance to the Estimating Department in the preparation of bids, reviewing detailed plans involving the integration of technical activities especially in relation to Tank construction projects.
- Provide advice and guidance in the preparation of technical specifications for subcontractors and provide technical assistance and support in relation to client requests including structural design and drawings around Tank Construction and Rigging plans.
- Support on-site and field operations in relation to engineering queries or issues.
- Develops and reviews engineered crane lift plans and associated drawings.
- Evaluate the development and implementation of policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the Department.
- Direct, review and approve product/project design and changes while elaborating on procedures for Construction and repair.
Project Operations Management
- Monitor progress of the department's work/projects and take appropriate action(s) to address any deviations from schedules, specifications and/or quality standards.
- Accountable for the continued development and maturing of the institutionalized Damus Engineering Framework to ensure repeatability and efficiency of systems that will ultimately rebound to the improvement of the outcomes of projects.
- Manage the daily operations of the drafting and rigging services in Damus.
- Oversee all external engineering contractors being utilized by Damus.
- Accountable for the quality and delivery of engineering services.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Sound acumen regarding Engineering, welding, fabrication, lifting and Rigging and Industrial Plant operations.
- Negotiation, Coaching and Financial and business acumen.
- Strong knowledge of OSH legislation and regulations.
- Strong working knowledge of Industry recognized drafting tools.
- Sound knowledge of Quality Management Mechanical construction and maintenance, HSSE and IR regulations and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATION
Essential
- B.Sc. Degree in Mechanical / Civil Engineering Familiarity with Mechanical/Structural Design from an accredited training institution/programme recognized by the Company.
- Board of Engineering of T&T Certification.
- Project Management Certification.
Desirable
- Post graduate certification from an accredited training institution/programme recognized by the Company.
- Training and/or certification in Management/ Supervisory skills.
EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrated competence and/or competencies normally acquired over a minimum of seven (7) years experience in the mechanical construction and engineering sector preferably in the Contracting working environment.
- Minimum of two (2) years managing or supervising a team of professional staff.
- Minimum of five (5) years should be relevant experience working with Brownfield and Greenfield projects within the oil & gas industry.
