Chemist
Department: Analytical Chemistry
Reports To: Senior Chemist
Position Scope:
CARIRI is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chemist to join its Analytical Chemistry Department. The successful candidate will assist the Senior Chemist in delivering high-quality Analytical Chemistry services while ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2015, ISO/IEC 17025, and other regulatory requirements.
Key Duties And Responsibilities:
- Conduct chemical analyses on food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, environmental, industrial, and consumer products.
- Review analytical methods, results, and certificates of analysis in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
- Support laboratory compliance, audit readiness, documentation integrity, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform verification, validation, and new method development activities.
- Monitor laboratory operations, workflow, quality control, and resource utilization.
- Interface with internal and external clients to support project planning and delivery.
- Assist with training, proficiency testing programmes, and maintenance of laboratory information management systems.
- Represent CARIRI at workshops, seminars, and outreach programmes.
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education:
BSc in Natural Sciences with a major in Analytical Chemistry (required).
- MSc/MPhil in Chemistry (preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in Analytical Chemistry, including 3+ years in a supervisory/leadership role.
- Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation such as AAS, ICP-OES/MS, HPLC, and GC-MS.
- Demonstrated Experience with ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Management Systems.
