RESEARCH ASSISTANT
Position Description:
This position supports the work of the Graduates Studies Dean and Research Director in coordinating the activities relating to the Journal of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology, for Global Competitiveness UCC’s research agenda, as well as other related administrative duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote the research agenda at UCC
- Promote the submission of manuscripts to UCC’s Journal of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology for Global Competitiveness by internal and external researchers
- Coordinate the activities of UCC’s Journal of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology for Global Competitiveness
- Receive all manuscripts being submitted to the Journal of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology for Global Competitiveness
- Receive all manuscripts being submitted to all conferences/distinguished lecturers being organized by UCC
- Collect and collate all submitted manuscripts and take the necessary actions
- Distribute all desk accepted manuscripts to the relevant Reviewer to be reviewed
- Receive all completed reviews from the Reviewers and submit to Editor
- Communicate with researchers regarding the status of their submissions
- Communicate with the Editorial Board regarding submissions
- Seek final decision from the Editorial Board regarding each submission
- Assist with the promotion of all research initiatives at UCC
- Be a member of the UCC Research Committee
- Provide support to UCC’s Programme Planning Sub-Committee for each conference and distinguished lecture
- Assist in planning the UCC Annual Academic Conference and Distinguished Lecture Series
- Promote all UCC conferences, distinguished lecturers and affiliated conferences like TVET, IEAL-J, etc.
- Report the major decisions taken at our Conference Partners Meetings – Budget implications, contribution, IS&T support, panel discussion, etc.
- Seek grant funding for various UCC research initiatives
- Assist with organizing seminars and workshops at UCC
- Taking the minutes of meetings
- Any other activities deemed necessary
- Monitor ethical approval requests
- Maintain University’s research database
Qualification and Experience:
- Must possess a master’s degree
- At least two years’ experience in the research process
- Experience in events planning
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint
Skills and Competencies:
- Possess a good command of English Language, Mathematics and Statistics
- Possess excellent interpersonal and human relations skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Be detailed oriented
- Be team-oriented
- Ability to work on own initiative
