Job Summary:
The Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) is the premier government agency that provides business development services to Jamaican Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs). The JBDC is seeking a highly driven and enthusiastic individual to join the team, who will be responsible for managing the corporation’s research programme, in order to guide and support the development of the MSME sector in Jamaica.
Responsibilities:
- Leads JBDC’s research programme by conducting various research and analysis according to the organization’s strategic objectives and stakeholder interests.
- Prepares strategic and other required reports on the activities as directed
- Makes recommendations on research priorities as part of JBDC’s strategic vision.
- Applies qualitative and quantitative methodologies to research projects (economic, industrial, and developmental) and other issues.
- Develops and reviews research instruments.
- Leads in implementing and guiding research projects.
- Leads in collating and analyzing data and statistics in order to measure performance and monitor trends in industries and sectors.
- Assists in providing information to contribute to the development of policy papers.
- Recommends potential funding sources based on research conducted.
- Institutes the ‘Plan, Do, Check, Act’ (PDCA) cycle in the completion of tasks, in accordance with ISO 9001:2015
Candidates must possess the required education, knowledge and skills:
- BSc. in Economics or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience at a senior level in statistics, research, analysis, and technical report writing.
- Competence in the use of Microsoft Excel, SPSS software or any other related research software
