Our client in the Oil & Gas sector is seeking to onboard a Technical Draughtsperson / CAD Technician (Petrochemical Projects) on a Contract / Project-Based.
Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified Technical Draughtsperson / CAD Technician to support ongoing construction, maintenance and project execution activities within a petrochemical manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and updating technical drawings, managing drawing libraries, coordinating field support activities, and providing technical assistance to maintenance teams during routine operations, turnarounds, and outage works.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be required to perform, but not be limited to, the following duties:
- Coordinate, maintain, and control all engineering drawing libraries and satellite document systems (including manual handling activities).
- Provide field technical support to construction and maintenance teams as required.
- Prepare and update approved construction drawings, drawing modifications, isometric piping drawings, and new technical drawings.
- Assist with document preparation associated with Management of Change (MOC) processes.
- Develop basic Scopes of Work and compile Tender Packages for civil construction projects.
- Supervise field execution activities during routine operations, plant outages, and turnaround periods.
- Ensure optimal utilization of resources to meet project deadlines and field execution requirements.
- Provide technical and administrative support to the Facilities Maintenance Technician and engineering teams.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, project procedures, and HSE standards at all times.
- Compile project data and documentation accurately and within required timelines.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- AutoCAD Certification – Level 2 from a recognized institution (e.g., University of Trinidad & Tobago or a similar accredited technical provider).
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience producing Civil, Mechanical, and Isometric Piping drawings using AutoCAD.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience working in a petrochemical plant, construction, or project management environment.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Strong knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) laws, policies, and site procedures.
- Prior project coordination or project management experience will be considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Project.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to source, compile, manage, and control technical information efficiently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in both field and office environments under tight schedules.
