Senior Systems Accounting Officer

Key Responsibilities Include:

Maintains accounting records which includes the General Ledger and subsidiary accounting records in compliance with relevant standards and procedures;
Verifies and approves district expenditures to ensure process controls have been adhered to;
Verifies that District Bank Accounts are reconciled by the scheduled dates;
Assists with development of District operational plans and budgets;
Prepares Bank Reconciliation Statements;
Prepares District Office submissions of warrants to Head Office for fortnightly Subventions;
Conducts Budget variance analysis from District Accounts to advise Management on areas for compliance within budgetary guidelines;
Monitors and Supports electronic banking and digitization processes within the Department/District;
Prepares designated Audit Schedules;
Produces monthly and ad hoc reports on District Office accounting activities;
Verifies receipts and lodgement reports; purchase requisitions and signed purchase orders;
Prepares Cash Flow requests, overtime and travelling claims schedule, invoice and payment vouchers;
Supports development of District Accounting personnel to include sensitization, knowledge-sharing and performance evaluation.

Minimum Requirements for the Position:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Level 2 ACCA Certification;
A minimum of (3) years' working experience in Accounting;
Specialized training and proficiency in the use of accounting software (Eg. MS Dynamics Great Plains), MS Excel and Power Point;
Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices; particularly government accounting;
Evidence of professional discipline, purpose, focus and integrity are key determinants for this role;
