JOB SUMMARY
The IP Engineer is a highly specialized technical expert accountable for strategically designing, implementing, proactively managing, and continuously optimizing Amplia’s advanced ISP core network infrastructure. Leveraging rare, advanced technical expertise, this role ensures the network’s maximum availability, security, and performance, directly safeguarding critical business revenue, customer satisfaction, and operational stability.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive the strategic design, implementation and optimization of scalable, redundant, and high-availability core and edge networking solutions.
- Develop detailed, strategic high-level and low-level network architecture documentation aligned with Amplia’s long-term objectives.
- Configure and maintain specialized core network technologies, including OSPF, MP-BGP, MPLS, MPLS-TE, Segment Routing, EVPN, CGNAT, IPv6, DHCP, DNS, and advanced multicast protocols (PIM, SSM, RP).
- Strategically drive advanced network optimization, predictive capacity planning, and sophisticated Traffic Engineering to ensure optimal customer experience.
- Lead the automation of highly specialized and complex network tasks using advanced scripting (Python/Bash), significantly enhancing network resilience, operational efficiency, and minimizing downtime.
- Leverage advanced Multicast Routing protocols (PIM, SSM, RP) in close collaboration with IPTV Engineering, integrating real-time analytics and data-driven insights to proactively optimize network resources, enforce QoS policies, and deliver seamless, high-quality IPTV services that enhance overall customer experience.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex, unprecedented network issues, performing deep packet inspection, advanced troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and driving post-mortem reviews to continuously enhance reliability.
- Ensure stringent adherence to critical SLA commitments through sophisticated monitoring and analytics tools (Flow Analyzer, Sandvine Analytics, Zabbix, etc.).
- Lead the strategic planning, technical design, and implementation of new Points of Presence (PoPs), core infrastructure expansions, and advanced Network-to-Network Interfaces (NNIs).
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Telecom, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or an equivalent technical field. Master’s degree (MSc) in a related discipline would be considered an asset.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) required; CCNP Service Provider track highly preferred.
- Formal certification or advanced training in GPON/FTTH technologies, demonstrating in-depth knowledge and direct experience with carrier-grade broadband infrastructure.
- Formal certification or advanced specialized training in DNS/DHCP/IPAM administration (Solidserver DDI administration), showcasing advanced skill in managing critical IP infrastructure services.
- Formal certification or advanced specialized training with Sandvine network analytics and traffic management solutions, demonstrating specialized expertise in real-time analytics, proactive traffic management, QoS optimization, and policy enforcement.
- Minimum 5 years of direct, specialized hands-on experience in advanced IP Network Engineering within carrier-grade ISP environments, demonstrating deep expertise with complex IP technologies (MPLS, MPLS-TE, Segment Routing, EVPN, CGNAT, Multicast Routing (PIM, SSM, RP), IPv6).
- Demonstrated hands-on expertise configuring and managing specialized Cisco platforms (Cisco ASR9K, IOS-XR, IOS-XE, Nexus platforms), including advanced troubleshooting and optimization capabilities.
- Proven proficiency with advanced network virtualization and cloud infrastructure technologies (KVM, VMware ESXi/Cloud, Nutanix), supporting core business-critical services.
- Extensive practical experience with advanced networking protocols including OSPF, BGP, MPLS, MPLS-TE, L2VPN, L3VPN, CGNAT, VRRP, HSRP, PBR, GRE, Segment Routing, Multicast Routing (PIM, SSM and RP) and EVPN.
- Experience managing advanced network security solutions (IPsec, GRE, ACLs, DDoS mitigation, Darktrace or equivalent threat detection systems).
- Proficiency in Linux system administration for server maintenance, automation, and security.
