The Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority (TTCAA) is mandated to regulate and administer a safe civil aviation system whilst ensuring that Trinidad and Tobago properly discharges its obligations under international civil aviation agreements and treaties. The TTCAA is seeking to recruit suitably qualified persons for the following contract position:
AERONAUTICAL INFORMATION SERVICES (AIS) TRAINEE
This job requires the incumbent to message switch, receive and transmit flight safety information such as operational flight plans, meteorological, navigational and other aeronautical information using the Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunications Network (AFTN).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide and verify information on flight plans submitted by pilots/airlines and transmit to appropriate authorities using AFTN.
- Transmit meteorological and flight safety information such as departure messages, estimates of aircraft arrival to relevant authorities using the AFTN.
- Monitor incoming and outgoing messages on the AFTN circuits, identifies and corrects problems by using appropriate guidelines.
- Verify a checklist of current notices to airmen (NOTAM) and technical publications and transmit to regional AIS offices and international NOTAM office using the AFTN.
- Keep records of amendments to technical publications.
- Collect and tabulate AFTN circuit statistical data and submit reports to supervisor.
- Examine NOTAM and flight plans databases.
- Log reports on incidents which occur during the tour of duty.
- Keep records of office supplies such as Teleprinter paper, Printer ribbons used during a shift.
- Perform other duties related to job function, which may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) CSEC, CXC or GCE O’ Level subjects including English Language, Mathematics, and a Science subject preferably Physics.
- Certificate in Aeronautical Information Management.
