BACKGROUND
The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) in its quest to promote, assist and facilitate the efficient development of tourism and Barbados’ tourism product, is seeking to recruit an exceptionally skilled individual to fill the position of Director, Marketing.
ROLE SUMMARY
The Director, Marketing provides strategic leadership in developing and implementing BTMI’s global marketing and communications strategy. This role is responsible for ensuring the consistent and compelling expression of the Barbados Brand through integrated campaigns, digital engagement, creative storytelling and brand partnerships. The Director will work collaboratively across departments and markets to strengthen Barbados’ position as a premier global destination and to inspire travel through innovative and authentic brand experiences.
SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the strategic development and implementation of BTMI’s global marketing, communications and brand strategy.
- Oversee brand management, ensuring alignment with the Barbados Brand’s identity, values and positioning.
- Direct integrated marketing initiatives across advertising, digital, social, content and experiential platforms.
- Provide creative leadership in the design and execution of impactful campaigns that build awareness, affinity and demand for Barbados.
- Develop and maintain strategic marketing and communications partnerships that extend reach and amplify the destination’s visibility.
- Utilize research, consumer insights and data analytics to guide decision-making and measure marketing effectiveness.
- Ensure brand consistency and quality across all marketing touchpoints and communications.
- Manage marketing budgets, contracts and resources to ensure cost-effective deployment and accountability.
- Collaborate with internal teams, regional offices and external stakeholders to deliver cohesive, results-driven marketing and communications programs.
- Foster innovation and continuous improvement in marketing strategies, tools and platforms.
- Lead, motivate and develop a multidisciplinary marketing team to achieve high performance and professional growth.
- Represent BTMI at strategic forums, industry events and partnerships to strengthen the Barbados Brand’s global presence.
SUMMARY OF KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, Management, Public Relations or a related discipline.
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ relevant experience in a similar environment
- Demonstrated expertise in brand management, creative direction, digital strategy and campaign development.
- Visionary and strategic thinker with comprehensive knowledge of global marketing trends and consumer behaviour.
- Collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to align diverse teams and partners toward a shared vision.
- Awareness of global trends in tourism, operations of international tourism markets and the Barbados tourism industry
- Good understanding of government policy, priorities and issues affecting tourism.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office suite of applications and knowledge of e-marketing systems.
- Fluency in English and working knowledge of another language would be advantageous.
