Legal and Regulatory Counsel
In response to the changing international financial and regulatory landscape, a leading financial institution is seeking to fill a new position of Legal and Regulatory Counsel.
Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Legal & Regulatory Counsel (LRC) will be responsible for providing strategic legal services of the highest standard to the board and senior management, monitoring and providing guidance and support in ensuring compliance with all legal, statutory, and regulatory requirements. The LRC will also be responsible for ensuring that all key personnel are properly briefed on legal and regulatory matters and that communication with regulators and official bodies is conducted in an effective and timely manner.
The LRC will provide strategic support to the CEO, Administration Department, Risk & Compliance Department, Human Resource Department and the Corporate Secretariat on matters relating to regulatory risk management and will promote a culture of effective governance and legal compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Graduate or law degree in a related area from a recognized institution;
- At least three (3) years of experience as a Legal and/or Regulatory Officer;
- Experience in researching and analysing complex laws and regulations, staff commentaries, legal opinions, court decisions and/or other documentation, and the analysis of operations to determine and ensure compliance;
- Experience in conducting, monitoring, and testing to assess regulatory compliance risks;
- Professional Certification as a Compliance Officer would be an asset.
