COMMERCIAL OFFICER 

The Trinidad and Tobago Trade and Investment Promotion Agency Limited (Global Trinidad and Tobago) is currently seeking individuals to fill the position of Commercial Officer. The Commercial Officer posted in the Commercial Office in the United States of America, will be responsible for the facilitation and promotion of trade and investment in targeted markets. The primary role of the Commercial Officer will be to work with the export and investment teams at the Trinidad and Tobago Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (TTTIPA) to generate foreign earnings and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows from the United States. 

Key Responsibilities

• Develops plans and strategies for accessing capital, technology and trade for priority sectors and firms in Trinidad and Tobago.
• Promotes the Country’s trade and investment opportunities in targeted markets.
• Engages with government agencies, trade associations and industry groups in various countries to advocate for policies and initiatives that benefit the Agency’s interests.
• Ensures compliance with international trade regulations and customs requirements.
• Conducts ongoing market intelligence, including monitoring industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities relevant to Trinidad and Tobago’s export sectors.
• Builds and maintains strategic partnerships with chambers of commerce, trade associations, investment agencies, and government entities in the host country.
• Coordinates and participates in trade shows, exhibitions, and promotional events to showcase Trinidad and Tobago’s products and investment opportunities.
• Prepares periodic reports, briefs, and analytical summaries on trade and investment trends, challenges, and recommendations for policy consideration.
• Maintains an updated database of business contacts, trade leads, and investment prospects for dissemination to relevant stakeholders in Trinidad and Tobago.
• Provides aftercare support to investors and exporters to ensure continued engagement and satisfaction.
• Manages and collaborates with the commercial office and cross functional teams.
• Reports on the key economic/business/political developments of the target market. 

Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s in Business Administration, International Relations or Economics or any equivalent combination of experience and training
• 3-4 years’ experience in international trade
• A minimum of two (2) years’ business experience working in a supervisory capacity

• Specialist skills in negotiation
• Substantial/ In-depth written and oral communication skills
• Possess excellent networking skills
• Substantial/ In-depth proficiency in sales planning and market research
• Applied/ Working knowledge of diplomacy and protocols
• Have experience in undertaking business development activities
