Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Fleet & Driver Management
- Supervise daily operations of drivers and transport staff to ensure timely and efficient delivery schedules.
- Monitor driver performance, ensure compliance with safety and legal requirements (e.g., hours of service, licensing).
- Coordinate driver schedules, assign routes, and manage shift rotations.
2. Route Planning & Optimization
- Plan and optimize transport routes to ensure cost efficiency and timely deliveries.
- Analyze traffic patterns, delivery constraints, and customer requirements to adjust routes as needed.
- Ensure route adherence and respond to any deviations or disruptions.
3. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all vehicles and drivers comply with company policies, DOT regulations, and other applicable laws.
- Conduct regular audits of vehicle inspections, maintenance logs, and safety checks.
- Implement and enforce health and safety standards related to transport operations.
4. Communication & Coordination
- Act as the primary point of contact between drivers, dispatch, warehouse staff, and management.
- Resolve any issues related to transportation delays, customer complaints, or delivery discrepancies.
- Maintain strong relationships with third-party logistics providers (if applicable).
5. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of transport activities including mileage, fuel usage, incidents, and delivery reports.
- Prepare and present performance reports on delivery KPIs, fleet utilization, and cost analysis.
- Monitor budgets and control transportation costs.
6. Team Supervision & Development
- Train, mentor, and evaluate transport staff to ensure high performance and adherence to procedures.
- Conduct regular team meetings and safety briefings.
- Address disciplinary issues in accordance with HR policies.
7. Maintenance Oversight
- Coordinate regular servicing and repair of vehicles with the maintenance team or external providers.
- Monitor vehicle condition and ensure timely inspections and certifications.
8. Technology & System Use
- Utilize transport management systems (TMS) or GPS tracking tools to manage fleet movements.
- Ensure data integrity and system updates are completed accurately and on time.
