Motor Vehicle Manager
Kingston Wharves Limited (KWL) operates on a 24-hour, 365-day schedule to support the seamless flow of cargo through its terminals. Within this dynamic environment, the Motor Vehicle Manager will be responsible for overseeing all business operations related to motor vehicle activities across the Terminal Operations Division and offsite car parks. The role encompasses the receival, storage, and delivery of cargo vehicles for both domestic and transshipment markets, ensuring that all activities are executed efficiently, safely, and within budget. Due to the continuous nature of port operations, the position requires flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide overall management and direction of the motor vehicle department.
- Plan and schedule labour and other resources to meet operational demands.
- Maintain prescribed productivity and efficiency standards.
- Conduct periodic performance reviews in alignment with departmental KPIs.
- Ensure delivery schedules and client commitments are met.
- Promote compliance with all safety, quality, and operational policies and procedures.
- Safeguard all personnel, assets, and cargo under the department’s responsibility.
- Prepare and submit monthly performance and revenue reports.
- Collaborate with the senior management team on strategic initiatives related to talent and change management.
- Coordinate quotations and manage special client service requests.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Masters Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
- At least five (5) years’ management experience in operations management, preferably within a logistics or port environment.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills
- Sound understanding of port procedures, customs and regulatory requirements governing motor vehicle operations and cargo handling.
- Committed to delivering consistent high-quality service and maintaining strong client relationships through responsiveness, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze operational challenges, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement effective solutions.
- Proven capability to lead, motivate, and develop teams to perform at optimal levels while fostering a culture of accountability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to engage effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and responding to changing operational demands.
