Logistics Clerk
We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and people-focused individual to support the logistics, customs brokerage, and operational functions across the group. The successful candidate will be required to travel to ports island-wide, liaising with principals, customs officials, shipping agents, terminals, and customers, while providing exceptional service in accordance with company standards, accounting procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit customs documentation and entries for import and export consignments, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Classify goods accurately under the appropriate tariff headings and apply correct duties, taxes, and exemptions in accordance with Jamaican Customs requirements.
- Coordinate and manage the collection of delivery orders, ensuring timely dispatch and delivery of shipments.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading prior to lodgement.
- Effect lodgement and payment of customs duties, port fees, and related charges via ASYCUDA World or other approved platforms.
- Provide logistics services to third-party and cruise vessels at ports across Jamaica.
- Support logistics husbandry for vessels, including coordination of supplies, clearances, and port services.
- Liaise with Customs Officers, Shipping Agents, Freight Forwarders, and Port Authorities to facilitate smooth cargo clearance and resolve documentation or inspection issues.
- Monitor the progress of shipments from lodgement to release, ensuring timely clearance and delivery to clients or designated warehouses.
- Prepare and submit required permits, licenses, and bonds for restricted or special cargo types.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customs transactions, receipts, and clearance documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
- Provide in-house brokerage and logistics support for the group’s operations.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of disbursement accounts, including invoice verification, preparation of debit notes, and related journal entries.
- Maintain professional and effective liaison with shipping lines, NVOCCs, Customs, and Port Authorities to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements
- Associate Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Customs Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in logistics, customs brokerage, or shipping operations.
- Comprehensive understanding of Customs regulations, ASYCUDA system, and port/terminal procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Valid Open General Driver’s Licence with at least 10 years’ driving experience.
- Willingness to travel island-wide and work flexible hours as required.
