The Role
Reporting to the Board, the Chief Audit Executive is responsible for managing the analysis, review, and evaluation of the organisation's financial and accounting functions, including its internal control systems. The role also involves reviewing and assessing the organisation’s internal policies and processes. Responsibilities include:
- Preparing audit programmes for the examination and assessment of operations.
- Leading the development of audit plans.
- Reviewing and approving working papers for all audits conducted by the Department.
- Preparing audit reports that identify deficiencies, breaches, implications, and propose remedial actions.
- Liaising with the leadership team to address deficiencies identified in audit reports.
- Following up to ensure documented procedures are implemented and internal controls are observed.
- Providing guidance to the Board of Directors, Executive Leadership, and employees regarding compliance matters.
- Overseeing the review of Statutory Declarations of Assets, Income, and liabilities of employees.
- Reviewing and updating the organisation’s audit policies and procedures in alignment with established auditing standards.
- Participating in the organisation’s strategic planning process.
Preferred Profile
- Professional Certification in ACCA or equivalent, CIA; or
- Graduate Degree in Accounting.
- Ten (10) years’ experience in auditing, with five (5) years at the Supervisory Level, in the Private or Public Sector.
- Experience in Forensic Audits.
- Certification in Project Management would be an asset.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills while displaying a high level of confidentiality, honesty and integrity.
