The Port Authority of Jamaica wishes to recruit an ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT, MAINTENANCE in the Engineering Department.
SALARY SCALE: $12,098,865.47 - $15,079,441.27 per annum.
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for developing and executing the Authority’s preventative maintenance programmes and procedures for all structures and facilities, equipment to ensure continuous running to support business operations. The scope of responsibilities includes providing technical guidance to maintenance staff, recommendations for capital equipment and implementation of mechanical and electrical infrastructure systems and projects.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering.
- Project management certification.
- Eight (8) years related work experience, with four (4) at the senior management level.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and manage the development, implementation and maintenance of all electrical/ mechanical and infrastructure projects and systems.
- Develop and monitor maintenance programmes for all equipment and facilities. Conduct maintenance process audits; discuss and implement remedial works.
- Monitor the performance of equipment and facilities with a view to reducing down time.
- Conduct periodic assessments and initiate follow-up action.
- Participate in implementation of new projects, facility modification, comment on concept, and designs of maintenance projects.
- Forecast and plan strategically for system overhauls and upgrades, taking account of long-term maintenance costs.
- Ensure:
- Maintenance activities are proactively coordinated and effectively implemented.
- Contractor's personnel have the right technical qualifications, equipment and tools before field mobilisation.
- Liaise with free zones and other locations on on-going maintenance activities and projects.
- Major and critical jobs/projects are attended to and addressed.
- Co-ordinate and oversee all maintenance projects aimed at enhancing the physical facilities at all locations.
- Facilitate the testing, and commissioning specialist components, fixtures, or fittings.
- Evaluate and make recommendations for the procurement of capital equipment and spare parts.
- Evaluate the necessity of procuring spare parts required and recommend procurement.
- Facilitate the process of disposal of obsolete machinery, plant and equipment from gaining agreement to write off to physically removing it and its safe and lawful disposal.
