The following opportunity exists at the Stewart's Automotive Group for highly skilled, professionally certified and results-oriented individuals to fill the position of:
SENIOR AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN
The duties and responsibilities of the selected individuals will include:
- Ensuring that there is perfect quality work, through the use of suitable workshop facilities, testing devices and methods.
- Providing expert support in the diagnosis of difficult repairs.
- Servicing and repairing of vehicles in accordance with dealership standards and best practices.
- Examining vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunction.
- Test driving vehicles and testing components and systems, using equipment such as computerized diagnostic devices.
- Repairing, re-aligning, replacing and adjusting brakes.
- Performing electrical diagnostic procedures using mutli-media and computerized diagnostic tools.
- Repairing automatic and manual transmissions.
- Reviewing work orders and discussing work with supervisors,service advisors and other relevant staff.
- Following checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, ignition systems, engine cooling systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings and other potentially troublesome areas.
- Planning work procedures, using charts, technical manuals, and experience.
- Testing and adjusting repair systems to meet the manufacturers' performance specifications.
- Performing routine and scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.
- Disassembling units and inspecting parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Overhauling or replacing carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, pumps ad fuel injection systems.
- Repairing and servicing air conditioning, heating, engine-cooling, and electrical systems.
- Tearing down, repairing, and rebuilding faulty assemblies such as power systems, steering systems, and linkages.
- Reducing work delays and wastage of material.
- Reporting to the supervisor in a timely manner on issues and activities likely to influence desired outcomes and good customer relations.
- Maintaining order and cleanliness in the Workshop
- Complying with regulations and policies governing health, safety and accident prevention.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
- Qualified vehicle repair expert ( a minimum of Level 3 certification with JAGAS or equivalent).
- A minimum of five years of practical experience in diagnosing, repairing and servicing vehicles.
- Expertise in the use of multimedia and computerized diagnostic tools.
- Experience working in an authorised dealership environment.
- Excellent Computer skills.
- Must pay attention to details and have a history of minimal or no recalls for repairs completed.
- Must be able to function effectively in a team environment.
- Customer oriented thinking and actions.
- Good oral and written skills.
- Must possess a valid General Driver’s Licence, with a clean driving record.
