Position Summary: The Heavy T Driver represents the Company by transporting, handling and presenting its goods to Customers in a professional manner, while verifying delivery in accordance with procedures and standards set by NWT Enterprises Limited.
Key Responsibilities:
Transportation of Goods:
- Safely transporting goods between various locations, including suppliers and customers.
- Handling the loading and off-loading of goods onto and off the delivery vehicle.
- Ensure handling is done to prevent wastage and damaging of items.
- Keep the Cargo area locked at all times when not in use.
Inventory Management:
- Keeping accurate records of items being transported, ensuring that the correct quantities and items are delivered. This will involve verifying Packing Lists and Invoices.
Vehicle Maintenance:
- Performing routine checks on the delivery vehicle, such as checking tire pressure, fluid levels, and ensuring that the vehicle is in good working condition.
- Report immediately to the General Manager and document any maintenance needs or issues on the Truck Loading Report.
Route Planning:
- Planning efficient routes to ensure timely delivery of goods, considering factors such as traffic, distance, and delivery schedules.
Safety Compliance:
- Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures of the Law, while driving and handling goods.
Customer Interaction:
- Providing professional and courteous service when interacting with customers.
- Obtaining signatures for receipt of goods delivered, verifying all cash payments collected from customers and preparing receipts for all payments received (Cash or Cheque).
Documentation and Reporting:
- Completing all necessary paperwork related to deliveries, such as delivery receipts, logs, Truck Loading Report and any reports on incidents or delays.
Warehouse Duties:
When assigned to the warehouse, a Driver should assist with the following:
- Receiving incoming shipments of goods, verifying against packing lists.
- Unloading goods in a safe manner via Hand, Pallet Jacks
- Inspecting goods and report any issues of damages and defects to the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Accurately packing goods in designated locations ensuring it is neat and well accessible.
- Ensuring and promoting warehouse cleanliness at all times.
- Rotating stock to prevent expiration and damages.
- Picking, packing and labelling goods for customers with a high level of accuracy and attention to details.
- Following all the good distribution practices and personal hygiene requirements while at the warehouse facility and during the handling and delivery of products
- Supporting in other related activities for the development and maintenance of the Food Safety Management System.
Qualifications:
- 3 -5 years driving experience
- Experience driving commercial delivery trucks.
- 3 CXC Subjects (including English and Mathematics)
- A valid Heavy T License
- A Defensive driving certificate is an asset
