About the Role
The Optometrist plays a critical role in diagnosing, managing, and treating conditions of the human eye and visual system. You will provide expert care, prescribe corrective lenses, and educate patients on visual hygiene and preventative measures. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a customer-centric, fast-paced retail environment and is committed to clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision tests.
- Diagnose visual impairments and prescribe corrective lenses or treatments.
- Detect and manage eye diseases including glaucoma and conditions linked to systemic illnesses.
- Fit and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids.
- Educate patients on eye care, contact lens hygiene, and safety practices.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals for advanced care.
- Promote preventative eye health and contribute to store performance targets.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Optometry from a recognised institution.
- Minimum of five (5) CXC/GCE subjects, including Mathematics and English.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in optometry.
- Registered with the Guyana Medical Council and in good standing.
- Experience with contact lenses is an asset.
