TITLE: Accounts Clerk
REPORTS TO: Accounting Manager
LOCATION: Chaguanas and Port of Spain
TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Accounts Clerk will be responsible for providing financial and administrative services in an effective and efficient manner. This includes processing and monitoring receipts and statements to ensure finances are accurate and up to date. The Accounts Clerk will also be responsible for the processing and monitoring of income and receipts and ensuring that customers pay within established time limits.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain Accounts Receivable customer files both electronic and physical
- Ensure monthly up to date account statements are sent to customers
- Review and correct the posting of daily sales from branches
- Assist with the preparation of Bank Reconciliation Statements
- Prepare account receivable reports by the 7th of the following month
- Monitor customer accounts and aged receivable reports for non-payments, delayed payments and other irregularities
- Administer and record all remedial actions recommended by Management
- Ensure accurate entry of invoices to process payments
- Assist with journal entries as required
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all financial and employee files
- Ensure proper month-end and close-off of Accounts Receivables
- Investigate accounting discrepancies and irregularities
- Verify that transactions comply with accounting policies and procedures
- Assist with the calculation, preparation and remittance of VAT, Corporation Tax/Business Levy etc.
- Assist with year-end audit working papers
Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Manager
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge/Experience
- Completed ACCA Level 1 or CAT
- Five (5) CXC O’Level passes, including Math and English
- Minimum of two (2) years accounts receivable and general accounting experience
- Proficiency in the use of Accounting Software
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working in a dynamic environment of change
