The successful candidate will lead a team of technicians and administrative staff, to ensure that all company facilities, equipment, and vehicles are operating at optimal standards.
This role requires a strong leader with a proven ability to manage projects, control costs, and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs across a multi-site organization.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Facilities Management
- Ensure the proper maintenance of buildings, freezers, refrigeration units, HVAC systems, fixtures, and motor vehicles.
- Oversee the design, installation, repair, and safe operation of equipment and physical infrastructure.
- Monitor energy usage and implement cost-saving initiatives.
Project Management
- Lead projects such as new site openings, relocations, closures, and renovations of business units.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure timely and quality project delivery.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs for all facilities and equipment.
- Ensure effective fault diagnosis, repair, and timely corrective action when issues arise.
- Maintain proper calibration systems and fixed asset registers.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
- Champion the continuous development of the Quality Management System (QMS), including adherence to documented procedures for work orders, inventory, and purchasing.
- Monitor corrective actions for identified non-conformities.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and supervise maintenance staff including technicians, clerks, and administrators.
- Handle recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Manage staff incentives, welfare, and discipline as required.
Budgeting & Reporting
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets and monitor expenses.
- Provide monthly management reports supported by analysis of departmental performance.
- Track and report on performance indicators such as equipment uptime, service quality, and cost efficiency.
Fleet & Asset Management
- Oversee vehicle fleet operations including servicing, inspections and key control.
- Ensure proper cleaning, sanitation, and upkeep of vehicles, workshops, and work environments.
- Manage tools, spare parts, and ensure accurate inventory records.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related technical discipline.
- 3–5 years proven experience in maintenance management within a multi-site or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and HVAC systems (pneumatic and digital controls).
- Building engineering principles and ability to interpret structural, electrical, and mechanical drawings.
- Preventive/corrective maintenance practices and energy management.
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Proficiency in SAGE, Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment & Demands
- Long hours on feet, climbing stairs, and working at heights.
- Exposure to noise, dust, wet and cold areas.
- Requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, public holidays, and to be on call for emergencies.
