A reputable civil law practice is seeking to hire a detail-oriented and capable Legal Assistant to support its legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong administrative background with prior experience in a legal environment. This individual must be proactive, organized, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced legal setting. This is a permanent position that requires an immediate start.
Salary Offering: $5,000 - $7,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and clerical support to Attorneys, Legal Secretary, and external Counsel.
- Transcribe legal drafts, complete standard legal forms, and prepare bundles and briefs.
- Liaise with government agencies for submission of legal applications and requests for information.
- Attend and liaise with Court, Land, Probate, and Companies Registries, and manage electronic and in-person filing.
- Maintain and organize legal files and ensure accurate client file management.
- Prepare and manage documents for court filing and service.
- Coordinate and manage office diary, scheduling reminders for court appearances, meetings, and deadlines.
- Communicate effectively and independently with clients, opposing attorneys, support staff, and court officials.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Minimum typing speed of 50 words per minute.
- Familiarity with office procedures and documentation specific to civil law practices, including filing, collating, and tabulating court documents.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in a law firm is highly preferred and considered a significant asset.
