SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the development and execution of BTMI’s annual sports marketing and sales strategy.
• Represent BTMI at sports events, tournaments and networking opportunities locally and internationally.
• Prepare compelling proposals and partnership packages for sports clients, teams, leagues and event organizers.
• Deliver presentations to tourism stakeholders to showcase Barbados’ sports tourism offerings.
• Assist in conducting research to identify new sports event opportunities, potential clients and emerging market trends.
• Monitor and evaluate the success of sports promotions, sponsorships and sales initiatives.
• Conduct sales visits and maintain strong relationships with sports organizations and event organizers.
• Manage inquiries from clients and stakeholders, ensuring timely and professional responses.
• Map decision-making structures and key influencers within the sports industry.
• Collect, compile and report on department activities, client engagement and partnership outcomes.
• Maintain and update databases of sports teams, event organizers and key industry contacts.
• Collaborate with marketing and other teams to deliver high-impact sports tourism campaigns and initiatives.

SUMMARY OF KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Marketing, Sales, Sports Management, or a related field.
• At least three (3) years of hands-on experience in marketing, sales, or business development, ideally with a focus on sports, tourism or events.
• Proficient planning, prioritising and time management skills
• Maintains a professional, diplomatic and tactful disposition.
• Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong interpersonal relationship and collaborative skills.
• Proficient negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
• The ability to coordinate, delegate and motivate.
• Proactive, shows initiative and able to exercise independent judgment.
• Able to work under pressure and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
• Commitment to the highest level of customer satisfaction.
• Proficient in the use of MS Office suite of applications and knowledge of e-marketing systems.
• Awareness of global trends in tourism, operations of international tourism markets and the Barbados tourism industry.
• Good understanding of government policy, priorities and issues affecting tourism.
• Fluency in English and working knowledge of another language would be advantageous.
