Medical Disposables & Supplies Limited (MDS) Invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the post of
PROCUREMENT OFFICER
Reporting to the Purchasing & Logistics Manager, the Procurement Officer is responsible for monitoring the GOJEP platform and executes the timely submission of bids and quotations and source the requisite products to honour all purchase orders generated through this medium.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Monitors the Government of Jamaica Electronic Procurement (GOJEP) platform to ensure that MDS quotes on all requests within the company’s product portfolio.
- Source products to expand range of possible opportunities via GOJEP whilst adhering to all regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with the relevant authority to ensure that the PPC and the TCC are current.
- Responsible for conducting price comparisons with other local suppliers for all divisions to ensure the company remains competitive.
- Generate quotation as requested and following through with purchase order for the quotation provided.
- Conduct investigation to determine the reason for not receiving a purchase order for items quoted to measure our price point for future quotations.
- Ensure that quotations along with all the relevant documentation are uploaded before each deadline.
- Generates Purchases requisitions for local and overseas suppliers as need arises within 24 to 48 Hours.
- Prepare manual purchase orders within 24 hrs. after the approval of the Purchase requisitions.
- File documentations on a weekly basis, ensuring easy retrieval where necessary
- Participate in the quarterly stock count exercise
- Perform any other related function required by the Management from time to time.
QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
- BSc. Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management or Business Administration.
- Proficiency in the use of computer applications and accounting software, including Microsoft Excel and Word. Working knowledge of SAGE Premium Software would be a distinct advantage.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in purchasing at a junior level
- Ability to function well as part of a team.
