Medical Disposables & Supplies Limited (MDS) Invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the post of
ACCOUNTANT
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Accountant’s primary responsibilities will be to ensure that all accounting tasks are performed in accordance with the requisite standard in order that MDS achieves its Mission, Vision and Performance targets.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Prepare and circulate monthly schedule of local and foreign payments
- Review and/or prepare accounts payables batches and requisitions in SAGE software application.
- Obtain requisite approvals and upload payments to banking platform
- Provide suppliers with payment confirmations
- Assist in the implementation of internal controls, policies and procedures
- Prepare the bank reconciliations monthly for the following bank accounts for all bank accounts except NCB J$ Current Account
- Prepare and input bank entries to SAGE
- Monthly reconciliation of top 10 suppliers’ statements
- Monthly reconciliation of AP Subledger to GL
- Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and prepares audit schedules as assigned.
- Ensure that all recurring journal entries are posted at the end of each month.
- Participate in quarterly stock count
- Perform any other duties related to the requirements of the job.
- Contribute to the preparation of the Finance Department’s monthly performance report, ensuring that the relevant performances, Strategic Initiative status, variances, diagnoses and prognoses are captured.
- Assist with maintenance of the suppliers database
- Records management for supplier invoices and payments
QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
- ACCA certified level II or a BSc Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent qualifications.
- Proficiency in the use of computer applications and accounting software, including Microsoft Excel and Word. Working knowledge of SAGE Premium Software would be a distinct advantage.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar position
- Knowledge of IFRS, GCT Act and any other relevant regulations which are applicable to MDS
