Job Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for effectively leading and directing the execution of Company on-shore and as required, off-shore mechanical maintenance, fabrication, and construction projects, including all maintenance and small Brownfield Projects.
As a functional leader, the Project Manager will work in collaboration with other Managers to ensure the effective delivery of the end to end process which include identification of potential projects, development of proposals, project execution, and client management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Strategy, Business Development and Proposals
- In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) develop strategic operational plans for the Department in alignment with the Company’s strategic and operational plans.
- In collaboration with members of the Management team, actively develop and grow the Company’s portfolio of clients and projects in specific markets in accordance with the strategic goals and objectives of the Company.
- Work with the Estimating Department to prepare bid documents, technical queries and submittals related to projects.
- Create, review and/or edit Statements of Work or proposals generated by Damus’ Estimating or Business Development departments and support technical teams, focusing on process optimization.
Project Operations, Planning and Management
- Lead the preparation and implementation of Project Execution Plans, developing accurate Work Breakdown Structures and work instructions in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Effectively manage assigned projects and project interfaces from conceptualization through to implementation stage.
- Review and approve weekly Value of Works Done (VOWDS) submitted by accounts team for all ongoing projects.
- Manage the financial aspects of the project against assigned budgets following award of Contracts for Services.
- Ensure appropriate and effective project close out upon completion of services in order to meet client expectations and financial obligations.
- Conduct project reviews, recording and presenting Lessons Learned at close out project meetings, with a view to improving the bidding process and implementing for future projects.
Key Competencies/Required Knowledge
- Demonstrable knowledge in project execution, terms and conditions of contracts, HSEQ typically applicable to mechanical construction and maintenance activities (brown field and green field).
- Sound acumen regarding Engineering, metallurgy, welding, fabrication, lifting and Rigging and Industrial Plant operations.
- Familiarity with cutting, fabricating and welding techniques.
- Working knowledge of MS Projects and/or Primavera software.
- Familiarity with the use and application of engineering codes such as ASME, API, ASTM.
- Knowledgeable in the applicability of Quality Management, Project Management, Mechanical Construction and Maintenance, applicable ISO 9001 standards, HSSE and IR regulations and best practices.
- Knowledge of Estimating/Proposal development for maintenance and construction projects.
- Awareness of current inflation, exchange rates and projected timescale costs.
- Competencies in contract negotiation, coaching and financial and business acumen.

Qualifications and Certifications
Essential
- B.Sc. Degree in Engineering – Mechanical or Civil from an accredited training institution/programme recognized by the Company.
Desirable
- Second Degree or Diploma in Management or HR Related studies from an accredited training institution/programme recognized by the Company.
Experience
- Demonstrated competence and/or competencies normally acquired over a minimum of fifteen (15) years experience in mechanical construction and engineering with a focus on energy-based industries, both onshore and offshore.
- Demonstrated competence and/or competencies normally acquired over a minimum of ten (10) years field experience in the execution of mechanical turnarounds in the energy industry with good exposure to planning and scheduling.
- Minimum of eight (8) years hands on experience managing staff/project teams.
- Experience working in a heavily unionized environment.
