POSITION: SENIOR ACCOUNTING OFFICER – TREASURY
REPORTS TO: ACCOUNTANT – TREASURY
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITES:
- Provides information and advice on the availability of cash for different business functions.
- Prepares on a timely basis, accurate cash flow/forecast statements and ensures daily receipts of cash from various Branches.
- Investigates and provides feedback to Branches when there are discrepancies in cash receipts and deposits.
- Follows up with Branches and takes appropriate action to ensure that cash discrepancies are responded to within a reasonable timeframe.
- Provides analyses on various GL accounts and sub-ledgers relating to Cash and credit facilities.
- Ensures that Bank Reconciliation statements are up to date and accurate and all necessary adjustments are completed on a timely basis.
- Provides accurate and up to date information on the actual balances at various financial institutions.
- Ensures that the correct interest charges and receipts on credit facilities and deposits are accurately and timely processed.
- Provides accurate information towards the completion of the Cash Flow statement for the monthly Management Accounts.
- Provides assistance and support within the Treasury Section in the execution of their various duties.
- Ensures that all work-related issues are dealt with in an efficient manner.
- Ensures that Performance Appraisal forms are completed, and support is given to staff to ensure that a high standard of work.
- Performs any other duties requested by the Accountant – Treasury.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Qualification / Education & Experience
- Level II ACCA or a Bachelor’s degree in Finance/ Accounting.
- A minimum of five (5) GCE/CXC Ordinary level passes, including Mathematics and English Language.
- Three (3) years’ experience working in a busy environment with two (2) years’ experience in a Finance or Accounting function and two (2) years’ supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Good working knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be organised, detail-oriented, persistent and committed - able to cope well in stress-related environments.
- Must possess computer literacy skills.
- Ability to perform complex analyses on numerical data and accounting information.
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to solve conflicts and motivate staff.
- Ability to lead a team.
