JOB PURPOSE:
The successful candidate will provide support to the Human Resource & Industrial Relations department by assisting in all functional human resource management and industrial relations areas. He/ She will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records and documentation. The incumbent will also perform administrative tasks and services to support the effective and efficient operations of the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Provides assistance with the preparation and maintenance of employees’ physical and electronic files ensuring accuracy, compliance and confidentiality in accordance with established procedures.
Ensures that documents/ reports / records are filed and easily retrieved when required.
Updates the HRIS databases and generates scheduled or requested reports as and when required.
Monitors time and attendance records of operational departments.
Generates and reviews monthly attendance report and makes initial recommendations for disciplinary action.
Provides assistance with processing Leave Benefits for employees as directed.
Processes and reviews employment applications to evaluate qualifications or eligibility of applicants.
Assists with all pre and post recruitment activities as required.
Lends support to new employee orientation / onboarding.
Responsible for performing general administrative activities including: preparation of paperwork for new and existing employees. This can include letters, contracts, letters of appointment among other documents that may be required from time to time.
Responsible for recording and transcribing notes and minutes from meetings as and when required.
Tracks and updates Monthly Reports regarding KPI and KRIs.
Provides assistance in administering employee benefits programmes including prompt enrolments and removals.
Participates in the development and review of human resource and industrial relations policies and procedures as and when required.
Participates in departmental projects as and when required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education/Training:
BSc in Human Resource Management; Management Studies; Psychology; OR
BA in Human Resource Management; Business Administration.
Degree must be from an Accredited Institution.
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant work experience.
Experience in a unionized environment would be an asset.
Certification and Licences:
Certificate of Good Character dated within six (6) months.
Required Testing:
The successful candidate will be required to undergo the following:
A Medical Examination (inclusive of substance testing) to establish fitness for the position.
A Psychometric Assessment.
Physical Requirements:
Working for an extended period of time in a seated position.
Concentrating for long hours in front of a computer screen that may lead to eye strain.
Communicating with other to exchange information.
From time to time may be required to operate for short periods of time in the external environment.
Knowledge:
Working knowledge of laws and regulations relating to Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations. Knowledge of the principles and practices of Human Resource Management. Knowledge of Human Resource Information Systems (Jantek; Dynamics; Smartsheets); Awareness of HSE Policies and Procedures and safe working practices. Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary Range:
