The Head of Credit is responsible for leading the Bank’s credit strategy and overseeing all aspects of the Credit function including delinquency management, reporting, and compliance with established standards, policies, and procedures. This role is pivotal in shaping credit policy, managing risk, and ensuring the bank’s credit portfolio aligns with regulatory standards and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the bank’s credit strategy, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee credit risk assessment, underwriting, and portfolio management across all lending segments.
- Provide oversight of credit approvals and underwriting processes to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Lead stakeholder and regulatory engagement to maintain transparency and alignment with industry standards.
- Monitor and report on credit performance, risk exposure, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage the credit portfolio to optimize risk-adjusted returns and ensure portfolio health.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align credit decisions with overall business strategy.
- Lead and mentor the credit team to ensure high performance and adherence to best practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in credit risk management within the banking sector.
- Strong expertise in corporate and commercial credit analysis, lending, and portfolio oversight.
- Working knowledge of the Cayman Islands Anti Money Laundering Legislation.
- Deep knowledge of credit risk regulation, financial analysis, and loan structuring.
- Experience with local and international regulatory frameworks (e.g., Basel III, IFRS 9).
Preferred:
- Masters degree in a related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CRC, FRM, CCE, CFA).
- Experience with credit automation tools, decision engines, and data-driven credit models.
- Proven experience managing multi-sector or multi-jurisdictional loan portfolios.
