POSITION SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Technician supports production by ensuring all plant equipment operates efficiently through timely troubleshooting, routine inspections, and both preventive and corrective maintenance. This position is based in a manufacturing facility that operates on a shift system.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform corrective, predictive, preventive, and routine maintenance on rotating equipment (motors, pumps, compressors), pneumatic and hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, electrical systems, and other plant equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and promptly report any irregularities that could lead to unscheduled downtime.
- Carry out equipment setups, changeovers, and fine-tuning adjustments to maintain smooth operations.
- Identify and resolve potential equipment failures and unsafe conditions.
- Assist with the installation and modification of equipment to enhance operational efficiency.
- Perform basic welding, machining, and pipefitting using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Accurately complete and submit work orders, check sheets, and maintenance logs as required.
- Ensure proper care and cleaning of tools, parts, materials, and work areas.
- Comply with company policies and procedures related to Human Resources, Quality, Health, Safety, Environment, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management to support maintenance operations.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- NETD, MET, MEEET, MIC Journeyman Diploma, or an equivalent technical/vocational qualification.
- At least five (5) CSEC/CXC O’Level passes including English and Mathematics.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (experience in the food manufacturing industry would be an asset).
- Strong problem-solving, operations analysis, and critical thinking skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented attitude.
