This role requires strong leadership, exceptional navigational skills, and extensive knowledge of maritime regulations and safety procedures. The Captain is responsible for ensuring the safety of passengers, crew, and the vessel itself, while also maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
In this position you will report directly to the Fleet Management Department and the Director.
Key Responsibilities:
Safe Navigation and Operation:
Command and navigate the boat, ensuring the safety of all onboard.
Monitor weather conditions, charts, and navigational equipment to make informed decisions.
Implement and enforce safety procedures and emergency protocols.
Crew Management:
Maintenance and Inspections:
Oversee regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs of the boat.
Ensure compliance with maintenance schedules and standards.
Monitor and manage inventory of necessary equipment, supplies, and spare parts.
Passenger Services:
Provide exceptional customer service to passengers, ensuring a pleasant experience.
Address passenger inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
Coordinate with onboard staff to ensure passenger comfort and satisfaction.
Compliance and Regulations:
Maintain knowledge of relevant maritime laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations.
Emergency Preparedness:
Record Keeping and Reporting:
Complete maintenance logs, reports, checklists and any other necessary report needed.
Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory authorities as necessary.
Monitor and manage budgets, expenses, and financial records related to vessel operations.
Environmental Stewardship:
Requirements:
Valid Captain's license or certification, appropriate for the size and type of vessel.
Extensive experience in marine navigation and vessel operations.
In-depth knowledge of maritime regulations, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in navigation and communication equipment.
Ability to make quick, informed decisions in high-pressure situations.
