In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of the company’s financial operations while providing reliable support to management and other departments.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Maintain and update accounts in the company’s accounting software with a high degree of accuracy.
- Prepare, post, and reconcile journal entries to the general ledger.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Generate and analyse financial reports to support decision-making.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Manage the accounts payable cycle, from invoice verification to payment execution via the company’s online banking portal.
- Oversee accounts receivable processes, including issuing invoices, monitoring aging reports, and following up on overdue accounts.
- Develop and maintain vendor and client relationships to ensure smooth transactions.
Payroll & Statutory Compliance
- Prepare and process monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy in salaries, deductions, and statutory contributions.
- Coordinate with the Payroll Officer to post payroll-related entries and reconcile payroll accounts monthly.
- Prepare and file VAT, NIS, PAYE, and TAMIS submissions in compliance with local regulations.
- Serve as backup for the Payroll Officer during absences.
Audit & Compliance
- Assist the Finance Manager in preparing documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.
- Ensure all accounting practices comply with statutory requirements and company policies.
- Maintain accurate and well-organised financial records for easy retrieval.
Process Improvement & Support
- Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Support the Finance Manager in special projects, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree will be considered an asset).
- 2 – 4 years’ experience in an accounting role, preferably in a multi-service or fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with accounting and payroll software (PayPak, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar).
- Strong understanding of double-entry accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
