JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Accountant                                                                                   

Department:   Finance

Reports to: Finance Manager

The Accountant shall report to the Finance Manager and shall be responsible for the day to day management of the activities in the department. 

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The Accountant shall provide accurate reporting from a financial and cost perspective to assist in decision making as well as assist in the day to day operations of company. Duties include but not limited to: -

• Maintain general oversight of the Company’s accounting functions and workflow

• Prepare reconciliations to General ledger accounts

• Prepare and manage journal entries as well as Sage data entries

• Review accounts payable/ receivable /sales and reconcile to Trial balance

• Monitor all operating bank accounts, cash reconciliation and cash flow management

• Assist in internal control compliance and provide training as required on internal control procedures.

• Prepare VAT schedules and all other statutory returns ensuring statutory deadlines are met

• Assist with annual external audit and preparing required schedules

• Prepare/Assist in Month end close of the General Ledger and reporting

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• ACCA or equivalent designation enrolled.
• Knowledge of SAGE X3 will be an asset.
• Minimum of 5 solid years’ experience in Accounting/Cost Accounting environment.
• Must have a strong systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.

Skills/Core Competencies:

• Computer Literate – Strong Excel skills and the ability to use Outlook and Word
• Good understanding of the production process in a manufacturing environment.
• Good Interpersonal skills
• Ability to train personnel
• Strong Leadership Qualities
