Job Summary: Assist the organization to obtain value for money through the professional estimation of prices and quantities in relation to Water and Wastewater projects and contract management
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of pre-tender documentation for the award of consultancy, construction and development contracts and agreements.
- Prepare cost estimates and bills of quantities for design and construction projects.
- Review cost estimates and Bills of Quantities for wastewater projects
- Collect and analyze data for cost planning and forecasting
- Support the review and evaluation of tenders from contractors.
- Support the evaluation of work in progress awarded by contract and in preparing certificates authorizing interim and final payments.
- Assist in the evaluation of variations which may arise.
- Liaise with technical personnel in the design and construction stages and offer advice with respect to costs and material usage.
- Supervise the preparation of cost analyses and participate in cost planning
- Ensure the timely conduct of inspections and valuations.
- Perform related duties as may be required
- Together with such other tasks as required by the Head, PMO and which are appropriate up to the grading level of the post.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of Quantity Surveying software packages and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of the construction industry and in particular the water and wastewater sector
- Comprehensive knowledge of the modern principles, methods, practices and techniques of quantity surveying.
- Knowledge of standard method of measurement procedures SMM7 and or the New Rules of Measurement version 2 (NRM2)
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Efficient computer skills.
Job Requirements
- Relevant Degree in Quantity Surveying from a recognized institution or Technician’s Diploma.
- Three (3) years’ post qualification experience with One (1) year in a similar position, or a Diploma in Quantity Surveying with five (5) years’ post qualification experience with One (1) year in a similar position
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.

- Certified qualifications in Construction Management
- Preferred additional experience
- Ability to operate under demanding work situations and meet Project deadlines.
Short-term contract - 1 Year, in the first instance, under the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) execution arrangement.
