The Role
The Chief Accountant will play a key leadership role in managing the organization’s financial reporting and general ledger function. The incumbent will be responsible for guiding a team of accounting professionals, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial data, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting business performance through financial analysis and strategic insights.
Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Oversee the timely and accurate production of monthly management accounts, including detailed variance analysis and commentary.
- Ensure the completeness and accuracy of P&L and balance sheet schedules in accordance with reporting timelines.
- Provide commercial and operational support to the leadership team to drive profitability and performance improvements.
- Lead and mentor a team of junior and senior accountants, supporting continuous development and upskilling.
- Ensure full compliance with tax regulations and oversee tax planning and filing.
- Partner with executive leadership to turn financial insights into actionable strategic decisions.
- Continuously assess and improve accounting systems and processes for enhanced efficiency and control.
- Champion data-driven decision-making by improving financial data quality, accessibility, and reporting tools.
- Participate in annual audits, regulatory reviews, and special projects as needed.
- Maintain strong internal controls and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Utilize ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Excel tools for reporting and analysis.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management or a related discipline.
- ACCA Level 3, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification is required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is an asset.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.
- Excellent knowledge of tax compliance, financial regulations, and audit processes.
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to lead under pressure and meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision.
