Background
Profiles Caribbean Inc. is seeking applications from suitably qualified accounting professionals with the requisite experience to provide management and leadership to the Accounting and Finance function and the provision of accurate and timely financial accounting and reporting for our client in the financial services sector in Barbados. The successful candidate will be required to support management, auditors, regulators, and the Board with clear financial data to aid in sound planning and decision making.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducting Financial Analyses to Identify Income-generating and Profit Improvement Opportunities.
- Financial Management and Reporting, including, but not limited to:
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Managing day to day accounting: general ledger, journals, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Monitoring cash flow and preparing short and medium term cash flow forecasts.
- Preparation and posting of journal entries and/or oversight of the function.
- Reconciliation of the general ledger accounts.
- Creation and updating of schedules re: Prepayments, Deferrals, and other schedules.
- Month-end reconciliation and close of the general ledger.
- Preparation, generation, and analyse monthly IFRS9 reports.
- Assisting with the preparation and posting of sub-ledger transactions.
- Maintenance and reconciliation of the fixed asset register.
- Assisting with the preparation and analysis of a monthly delinquency report.
- Responsibility for the preparation and payment of monthly, quarterly, and annual payments.
- Preparation of the annual budget.
- Maintaining current bank balances as per policy.
- Preparation of daily bank balance report.
- Processing adjustments for direct deposits, inclusive of payrolls to the operating accounts, FOREX adjustments.
- Processing wire transfer requests.
- Processing stop-payments and cancelled cheques.
- Monthly reconciliation of bank account.
- Cash and Investment Management.
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly Financial Services Commission (FSC) reports and special (Ad Hoc) reports as requested by the FSC.
- Ensuring the timely filing of statutory returns (NIS, VAT, PAYE, corporate taxes, and other relevant filings).
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Preparation and maintenance of annual audit schedules.
- Preparation of special annual reports as required.
- Creation and maintenance of the company’s Risk Profiling policy.
- Ensuring files and documents comply with AML/CFT guidelines and policy.
- Any other related duties as determined by the Board of Directors or Management.
Requirements
- ACCA, CPA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification (or in final stages).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Three to five years accounting experience: financial services experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of IFRS.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Financial analysis and problem solving.
- Regulatory and compliance awareness.
- Confidentiality and professional ethics.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to relate numbers for non finance stakeholders.
- Strong deadline discipline.
