ROLE & CORE FUNCTION
The Senior Fund Accountant – Financial Reporting’s responsibility is to record transactions accurately, comply with legislative requirements, act in a supervisory role, and provide accurate and timely information reporting to internal and external customers. The Senior Fund Accountant will prepare all internal and external analysis and reporting.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent performs tasks such as general ledger account analysis and reconciliations, reviewing and processing journal entries, preparation of bi-weekly Valuation reports and monthly financial statements:
- Prepare and analyse monthly financial statements according to stipulated guidelines for submission to Internal and External Stakeholders for assigned Portfolios and within the stipulated timeline.
- Prepare valuation reports (weekly & monthly) with consistency, accuracy, and in accordance with regulatory requirements for internal and external submission.
- Responsible for the verification of assets for fund valuation in computing Net Asset Value (NAV).
- Prepare and review journal entries to the GL monthly.
- Analyse the underlying transactions of relevant expense accounts, Investments, reconcile these accounts to the GL and prepare the relevant schedules and submit for review monthly.
- Prepare and review bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly Funds Securities Reconciliations – completed by the 10ths of the following month.
- Ensure timely submission of all statutory and regulatory requirements, including the preparation and submission of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to the Financial Services Commission (FSC)
- Facilitate the timely completion of internal and external audits including preparation of audit schedules and audited financial statements.
- Assist with the filing and timely payment of all tax returns including GCT (if applicable), and withholding tax
- Recommend changes in policies, procedures, and processes to minimize risk and improve efficiency of finance unit.
REQUISITE COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of IFRS and GAAP, and preparation of Financial Reports
- Sound knowledge of pension funds, unit trust or pooled fund administration, legislation and regulations would be an asset.
- Sound analytical, problem solving and investigative skill
- Sound knowledge of computerized accounting and spreadsheet packages
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial reports
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written format
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Sound negotiation and persuasion skills
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
- Knowledge and use of office productivity tools (MS Office, etc.)
