At Christel House Jamaica is on a mission to break the cycle of poverty through holistic education. We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and student-centered APSE Coach to provide individualized academic and social-emotional support to students on alternative pathways (Pathway II and III) at the secondary level.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Collaborating with classroom teachers to support students requiring academic and behavioural interventions.
- Designing and implementing Individual or Group Intervention Plans (IIPs/GIPs).
- Using diagnostic and prescriptive teaching strategies to improve learning outcomes.
- Supporting curriculum adaptation, co-teaching, and classroom observation to guide strategy development.
- Providing ongoing coaching and training to teachers on best practices.
- Monitoring student progress and maintaining comprehensive performance portfolios.
- Leading sensitization efforts and working closely with families and multi-disciplinary teams.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education (required)
- Minimum of three (3) years’ teaching experience
- One (1) year experience in clinical/evaluation or similar setting
- Strong skills in assessment, intervention planning, and behaviour support
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and coaching abilities
- A passion for inclusive education and supporting students’ holistic development
