DRY CLEANER (EQUIPMENT) TECHNICIAN
Job Description
The Laundry Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing all industrial laundry equipment including washers, dryers, and related equipment, located at the dry-cleaning facility.
Essential Functions
- Monitor and track equipment on a daily basis by job site, type and use.
- Inspect equipment on a regular basis.
- Demonstrate effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Effectively manage time and resources to control costs and enhance efficiencies.
- Assist in developing and implementing plans to maintain property, equipment, and other assets, in a safe and acceptable state of repair.
- Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the manufacturer's preventative maintenance.
- Provide advice and suggestions to the facility Manager as needed.
Competencies
- Experience with boilers, air compressors, pumps, electrical and industrial laundry equipment
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess mechanical & electrical skills and qualifications
- Ability to work independently or with little supervision
- Aptitude in using appropriate tools
- Previous experience working in a commercial laundry facility is a plus, but not required
- Make independent decisions while maintaining strong ethical standards consistent with company policy, rules and the ability to maintain confidential information.
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
- Must be effective in handling technical issues in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
- Must be able to work well in high pressure situations.
- Ability to be a clear thinker, analyze and resolve problems exercising good judgment.
Education, Experience and Licensing
- A high school certificate or the equivalent is required.
- Technical skills certificate as an Electrician
- At least 2 years electrical experience
Hoffman Presser
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Activates pressing machine to remove wrinkles from garments and flatwork items, or shape, form, and patch articles.
- Activates and adjusts machine controls to regulate temperature and pressure of rollers, ironing shoe, flat bed, or plates, according to specifications.
- Selects, installs, and adjusts machine components, including pressing forms, rollers, and guides, according to pressing instructions, using hoist and hand tools.
- Removes finished pieces from pressing machine and hang or stack for cooling and counting of pieces, then forwards for additional processing.
- Moistens materials to soften, smoothe and straighten with hands, to prepare for machine pressing.
- Cleans and maintains pressing machines, using cleaning solutions and lubricants.
- Hangs, folds, packages, and tags finished articles for delivery to customer.
- Applies cleaning solvents, and brushes materials made of suede, leather, and felt, to remove spots, and raise and smooth nap.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of one to two years’ experience.
- Must be able to stand for long hours.
- Be able to communicate at all levels.
- Be able to resolve Customer Issues/complaints within your scope.
- Good factory skills.
- Be able to work in hot conditions.
