Role Overview
As a Production Manager, you will play a vital role in leading daily feed mill operations, driving production efficiency, and fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. From managing production schedules and ensuring safety compliance to optimizing processes and developing your team, your leadership will be central to delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Execution
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement production plans.
- Oversee daily production operations to meet KPIs in efficiency, quality, and output.
- Adjust schedules and workflows as needed to optimize production performance.
Quality Control
- Ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards.
- Perform regular product and process inspections, initiating corrective actions where needed.
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to support product development and testing of innovations.
Safety Compliance
- Enforce and promote safety protocols throughout the production floor.
- Lead safety training sessions and monitor safe work practices.
- Investigate safety incidents and take corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Equipment & Maintenance
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure machinery is functioning effectively.
- Schedule routine maintenance and oversee necessary repairs to reduce downtime.
- Report and address equipment issues promptly, supporting continuous improvement.
Process Optimization
- Analyze data to identify inefficiencies and process improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with engineering and other departments to implement operational upgrades.
- Support cost control and productivity enhancement initiatives.
Communication & Collaboration
- Liaise with departments such as engineering, logistics, and QA to align production goals.
- Partner with inventory teams to manage raw material and finished goods availability.
- Serve as a key communicator between production staff and senior management.
People Management
- Schedule shift coverage based on workload and assign daily tasks.
- Motivate and evaluate the production team to ensure high performance.
- Support recruitment by identifying team needs and screening candidates via BambooHR.
- Facilitate performance reviews and provide regular, constructive feedback.
- Coach team members for growth, helping to develop new skills and promote accountability.
- Participate in annual performance appraisals to ensure fairness and alignment with company standards
Training & Development
- Work alongside HR to support team learning, development, and talent initiatives.
- Conduct skill assessments and identify training needs within the production department.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a leadership role in feed milling or a manufacturing environment.
- Deep understanding of feed mill operations, equipment, and production processes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
- Solid knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in industrial environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
