Golf Course Mechanical (Consultant)
JOB SUMMARY:
The Golf Course Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all golf course equipment, ensuring peak performance and longevity. This role requires advanced technical knowledge of machinery, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance. The ideal candidate has a strong background in mechanical systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and adjustments on a variety of golf course equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, sprayers, and small engines.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues with precision and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Preventive Maintenance
- Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules and repairs using digital tools or logbooks.
Operational Efficiency
- Optimize equipment settings and performance to meet specific turf maintenance needs.
- Collaborate with the Superintendent to prioritize equipment needs for daily operations.
- Inventory & Supplies
- Manage inventory of spare parts, fluids, and consumables to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Source and order replacement parts, maintaining cost efficiency.
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure the safe operation of equipment.
- Train staff on the proper use and handling of machinery.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including hazardous waste disposal and emissions standards.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate degree or certification in mechanics, engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in equipment repair, with a focus on turf maintenance machinery.
- Technical Skills
- Proficiency in diagnostics and repair of diesel and gas engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools, welding equipment, and shop tools.
- Familiarity with computer-aided diagnostics and maintenance software.
- Preventive and routine maintenance, and repair of equipment such as a fleet of golf carts, riding and hand mowers, and sweepers.
- Keeping work areas organized and in compliance with safety rules while working with maintenance crews to train other staff about equipment safety.
- Other responsibilities include prioritizing repairs.
- Keeping service records.
- Maintaining inventory and assisting during emergencies.
- Any other duties assigned by Golf Course Superintendent
