Our Client, K & S Caterers, is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Dietian.
Location: Spanish Town Hospital and Kingston Public Hospital
The Assistant Dietitian will play a crucial role in supporting the development and implementation of dietary plans for our hospital lunch rooms and patient meals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nutrition, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create menus that are nutritionally balanced, appealing, and meet the dietary guidelines
- Support the planning and preparation of specialized menus for patients with allergies, food intolerances, or other dietary restrictions
- Assist in the management of food allergies and sensitivities, ensuring proper labelling and prevention of cross-contamination
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in the field of nutrition and dietary science
- Collaborate with the catering team to ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Assist in the training and supervision of kitchen staff on proper food handling and nutritional guidelines
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and dietitians, to provide comprehensive nutritional care to patients
Requirements:
- Food Handler’s Permit
- Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field
- Registered Dietitian (RD) certification or eligibility for registration
- Previous experience in a healthcare or food service setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of nutrition principles, dietary guidelines, and medical nutrition therapy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex nutritional information to diverse audiences
- Proficiency in nutritional analysis software and tools
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations
