Bakery Attendant at the
Waterloo and Portmore branches
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures that work areas are properly cleaned and sanitized, including work tables, display tables on the floor and showcases.
- Checks items for expiry dates daily, takes off expired products and reports close dated items to the supervisor. Writes up the dump book and open stock book daily.
- Checks items already displayed for damage or if opened or faulty. Also double checks items already on the floor for proper pricing and labels.
- Examines and inspects containers before packing items.
- Packs items and stocks shelves throughout the day, checking at all times for quality.
- Accurately labels and prices items.
- Merchandises goods properly to attract customers and promote sales.
- Practices FIFO ensuring older items are placed at the front of shelves or on the top of stacks.
- Provides excellent customer service, answers questions about products and promotions and locates items for customers. Answers the telephone and responds to queries.
- Takes customer orders accurately.
- Suggests merchandise to customers (suggestive selling).
- Checks for misplaced items and returns them to the correct shelves.
- Cleans throughout the day, washes and sanitizes utensils, tin sheets, and equipment.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 5 C.X.Cs including Mathematics and English
- NVQJ Level 3 Certificate would be an advantage
- Previous experience in a bakery setting,
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food production.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
