DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: |
- Conducts acceptance testing on reagents, calibrators, controls, and consumables to ensure they meet required standards.
- Performs quality control testing and analyzes results using Levey-Jennings charts in accordance with applicable Westgard Rules; investigates anomalies and implements corrective actions as needed.
- Follows up on the collection and receipt of samples for Proficiency Testing (PT).
- Performs Proficiency Testing and accurately documents and reports results.
- Monitors calibration schedules and performs instrument calibrations in a timely and compliant manner.
- Carries out routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to temperature checks and equipment servicing, prior to running quality controls.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to support laboratory quality and operational standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES |
KNOWLEDGE | - Knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, equipment and techniques of medical laboratory technology in various areas such as Biochemistry, Haematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Blood Banking, Serology and Histology.
- Knowledge of international and local laboratory and safety standards such as ISO 15189:2022 and OSH Act of Trinidad and Tobago
- Knowledge of Quality Testing practices in the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases
- Knowledge of Quality Control methods and principles such as Westgard and Levey-Jennings

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: |
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Laboratory Technology or related area of specialty.
- Three (3) years’ experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist
- Quality Testing experience will be considered an asset.
- Experience in a private health care environment will be considered an asset.

OTHER: | - Must be able to work a shift system, weekends and public holidays.
