The Café Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the café, ensuring excellent customer service, managing staff, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the café meets financial and operational goals. The Café Manager will work closely with the owner and leadership team to foster a welcoming environment, enhance the café's reputation and drive profitability.

Hours: 8-4 Mon to Fri, 8-12 Saturday
Salary: $7,500
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the café, ensuring smooth functioning and high-quality service.
- Create and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly operational procedures.
- Ensure proper opening and closing procedures, and troubleshoot operational issues.
- Monitor and ensure that all health, safety, and cleanliness standards are maintained.
- Staff Management
- Supervise café staff, including baristas, waitstaff, kitchen staff, and cleaners.
- Create work schedules, manage shifts, and ensure adequate staffing during peak hours.
- Motivate and lead the team to deliver excellent customer service.
- Handle staff performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and promote staff development.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented atmosphere.
- Customer Service
- Maintain high standards of customer service and handle customer complaints or issues effectively.
- Ensure that customer satisfaction is prioritized and encourage staff to create memorable customer experiences.
- Engage with customers and respond to feedback, improving service standards as needed.
- Implement promotions, special events, and initiatives to attract and retain customers.
- Financial Management
- Oversee financial performance, including revenue, cost control, and profit margins.
- Monitor daily sales, manage cash handling procedures, and ensure accurate accounting practices.
- Analyze financial reports and implement strategies to increase profitability and control costs.
- Employee Payroll
- Inventory & Supply Chain Management
- Manage and monitor inventory levels, placing orders for food, beverages, and supplies as needed.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and quality products.
- Implement effective stock control procedures to minimize waste and maximize profit.
- Oversee purchasing and inventory audits to ensure cost efficiency.
- Marketing & Business Development
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase foot traffic and revenue, such as loyalty programs, social media promotions, and special events.
- Work with the owner/leadership team to develop and launch new menu items or seasonal offerings.
- Maintain and grow the café’s brand identity and reputation within the community.
- Menu Development
- Collaborate with kitchen and barista staff to ensure the café menu is up-to-date, diverse, and appealing.
- Evaluate customer preferences and trends, ensuring the menu meets market demand.
- Ensure food and beverage quality standards are consistently met.
- Maintenance & Facilities Management
- Ensure that the café and its equipment are well-maintained and in excellent working condition.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance with contractors when/as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience as a café manager, restaurant manager, or in a similar hospitality role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost management, and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of food safety, health regulations, and licensing requirements.
- Ability to work under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory management software.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and irregular hours as needed.
