We're Hiring!
We are seeking a Geography and Social Studies Teacher to join our secondary-level team. The successful candidate will collaborate with classroom teachers to provide specialized instructional support to students on Secondary Pathways II and III who require targeted intervention.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons in Geography and Social Studies that promote critical thinking, inquiry, and global awareness.
- Use varied teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Integrate technology and project-based learning to enhance instruction.
- Foster discussions and activities that build students’ understanding of human, environmental, political, and cultural systems.
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments.
- Track student progress using data to inform instructional decisions.
- Prepare students for internal and external examinations, where applicable.
- Establish and maintain a respectful, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Promote positive behaviour and character development aligned with CHJ values.
- Provide academic and social-emotional support to students as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and align curriculum units and assessments.
- Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) to enhance instructional practices.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
- Engage in school-wide events, parent meetings, and community initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Social Studies Education, or a related field (required)
- At least 2 years of teaching experience at the secondary level (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to use technology to support instruction
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
