KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES |
KNOWLEDGE | - Technical knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, equipment and techniques of medical technology in the various areas including Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology, Immunology, Blood Banking, Histology, Molecular and Serology
- Knowledge of international and local laboratory safety standards such as ISO 15189 and OSH Act of Trinidad and Tobago
- Knowledge of Quality Control methods and principles such as Westgard and Levey-Jennings
- Laboratory protocols and procedures.
- Proper use and requirement of PPE in a laboratory setting.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: | - Must have good leadership skills including communication, empathy, organization and interpersonal
- Good organization, multi-tasking, trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to document and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external partners.
- Ability to think creatively and to demonstrate flexibility.
- Ability to motivate staff, lead and promote teamwork, to think creatively and to demonstrate flexibility.
- Ability to work effectively under stress, to prioritize, multi- task within tight deadlines and respond to changing demands.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: |
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Biochemistry [Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S) in Medical Laboratory Technology will also be considered]
- Computer Literacy and customer service skills.
- Minimum of five (5) years working experience in a clinical laboratory that provide core lab services.
- Supervisory training / experience
- Experience in a private health care environment will be considered an asset

OTHER: | - Must be able to work a shift system, weekends and public holidays.
